
Input/Output Devices

What is input?
An input device is any hardware device that sends data a computer, allowing you to interact with and control the computer. Example of this is: a keyboard, a computer mouse, digital cameras.

What is Output?
An output device is any peripheral that recieves data from a computer, usually for display or prejection. For example: the image shown on an inkjet printer, an output device that makes hard copies of any information shown on your moniter, or, a computer moniter which displays an image recieved from the computer. Another example is a set of headphones. Be careful though bacause although USB sticks, Floppy diskette drives, DVD and CD-ROM maybe capable to recive information from a computer; they are not an output device, but they are considered as a storage device.





PUFF-SUCK SWITCH
A puff-suck switch is basically a device that a person wears, where a tube goes into the mouth, and then they can puff and suck to select different things. It's kind of like a mouse for a computer except you operate it with your mouth.
Specialist devices used by people with special needs

A FOOT MOUSE:
A foot mouse is used for people who are unable to use their arms. It is a type of compter mouse that enables the users ability to move the curser and click the mouse buttons with their feet.

EYE TYPER:
An eye typer is a device used for people who are unable to use typical computer equipment. A camera is mounted on top of a computer that focuses on the user's eye movement. Mouse clicks are used by the user's eye blinking slowly.
