Software, Hardware and Operating Systems

Computer hardware is different to software because, hardware is the phyisical components that makes up the computer. Software is the thing that tells what the hardware has to do. So hardware are the things that you can touch, whereas software are the things that you can't touch or see.

Linux
Microsoft Windows

An operating system is a system software that manages computer hardware and software systems. Application programs (Apps) usually require an Operating System.

What is custom written software?

Custom Written Software is also called Bespoke Software. The main advantages of custom written software is that the company will get the exact software/system they need. Also the software will work exactly how they want it to work. Although there aresome disadvantages such as it takes along time to develop this system, it also costs alot of money to produce the system too.

Why might custom written software be better or worse than off the shelf software?

Off-the-shelf software is better than custom written software because, it is alot less expensive than custom written software.

When you but off-the shelf software you can save time for customizing your own software. Whereas when you buy custom written software it needs time to program it.

In conclusion I think that off-the-shelf software is better than custom written software.
